“Sustainable Iowa-grown folk and roll.”
The High Crest, Kat Darling and Aaron Earl Short, blend dueling guitars and powerful harmonies in a sound that is distinct and authentic. The High Crest’s style comes from an organic hybrid of multiple genres: folk, rock, roots, blues, bluegrass, and country. Their songs beget humor, reflection and camaraderie. Lively performances and impressive musicianship are backed by a solid reputation for masterful, honest songwriting.
The High Crest has released two albums and was featured on the Des Moines Embassy South by Southwest Music Conference (SXSW) CD Sampler, and on Pedaler’s Jamboree Festival CD Sampler.
Kat and Aaron are both regular rotating hosts on KFMG 99.1 radio, Des Moines, and have performed on Iowa Public Radio’s Live from Studio One. The duo has also appeared on TV in Des Moines on KCWI Great Day, performed regionally at Folk Alliance International and at many local and national music festivals.
