Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art

Dedicated to sharing the beauty of gemstones and promoting the study of earth science, Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art features 15,000 sq. feet of exhibition space and houses a large collection of Chinese jade and hard-stone carvings from around the world. The 5-foot tall Altar of the Green Jade Pagoda, the Imperial Screen, the Rock and Mineral Experience, animal dioramas, and more are on display year round.

“Lapidary as an art is ageless, classless, and without national boundaries. It is unique in many ways. It has contributed to social and religious beliefs and to customs, rites, superstitions, and trade. Furthermore, the expert lapidary does not necessarily have a college degree, is not necessarily a professional cutter, and might even be self-taught. He does not have to use state-of-the-art machines.”

The Museum Shop offers a variety of gem jewelry, rocks, minerals, fossils and educational items for sale. The Museum is available for evening rentals and a lecture hall space with multimedia capabilities is available for rental during museum hours. Parking is free for buses and cars. The Museum is entirely on one level with access and facilities for physically disabled visitors.
