Emmett Till & the Civil Rights Movement

Discover why many historians believe the murder of a 14-year-old Chicago boy resulted in the development of the modern Civil Rights Movement in 1955. Our guest speaker, Mike Small, and his wife Tina were very close to Emmett’s mother, Mamie Till, until her death in 2003. Mike was a pall bearer at her funeral. Being involved in the Emmett Till story for close to twenty years, they have conducted many presentations all over the world at major universities, high schools, and public venues. They helped establish the “Emmett Till Trail” in Mississippi and played a major role in re-opening the Emmett Till Case in 2007. Mike and Tina have been featured on NBC TV several times.
