The Museum’s new location in Oak Brook opened in November 2019. Lapidary is the art of cutting & polishing stone. People of all ages enjoy this exceptional museum dedicated to sharing with others the beauty of gemstones and providing an environment for all people to learn about rocks, minerals and lapidary art. Founded in 1962 the Lizzadro Museum attracts local and international visitors. The Museum is unique in the United States and houses a large collection of Chinese jade and other hard-stone carvings from around the world. Displays include animal dioramas, mineral specimens, gemstones and geological exhibits. See our website for special exhibits, weekend programs and events. Group tours can be arranged with prior reservations. The Museum Shop offers a variety of gem jewelry, rocks, minerals, fossils and educational items for sale. The Museum is available for evening rentals and a lecture hall space with multimedia capabilities is available for rental during museum hours. Parking is free for buses and cars. The Museum is entirely on one level with access and facilities for physically disabled visitors.
