Escape to...Christmas in the Americas

Presented by Acappellago, NFP at Mayslake Peabody Estate

Join Acappellago the first weekend in December for its innovative Christmas choral program, “Escape to… Christmas in the Americas,” an a cappella holiday voyage through Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean and South America, and our own U.S.A. Our repertoire features classical and folk music, along with spirituals and Appalachian songs--a unique mix that you won't hear anywhere else this Christmas season.

Acappellago, now in its 16th season, is the western suburbs’ leading volunteer a cappella chorus, and is known for its eclectic programming that spans classical music, jazz, pop, and gospel. Led by Music Director Dennis R. Smith, we will present music by African-American composers Stacey V. Gibbs & Rosephayne Powell, Canadian composer Larry Nickel, and local composers John Milne of Villa Park and Douglas Lieberman of Northbrook.

The first performance will be held on Saturday, December 2,, at 7:30 pm in the Event Hall at Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 W. 31st Street, Oak Brook (west of Kingery Hwy.). A second performance will be held on Sunday, December 3, at 4:00 pm at the Congregational Church of Batavia, 21 S. Batavia Avenue, across from the Batavia Public Library.

Acappellago is supported by its patrons and by grants from the Illinois Arts Council and the Batavia Arts Council.
