Johannes Brahms 1877 Symphony 2, Benjamin Britten, and Jennifer Higdon will all be featured. Tristan Zhu, the winner of our 2023 high school solo contest, will also perform the first movement of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D Major.

This concert brings you stirring music inspired by natural and urban landscapes. Johannes Brahms completed his joyful 1877 Symphony 2 during a summer stay along an Austrian lakeshore. Benjamin Britten captured the moods of the North Sea in his dramatic Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes (1945). And Jennifer Higdon conveys the vitality of Atlanta, Georgia, her hometown, in Skyline from City Scape (2002). Finally, Tristan Zhu, the winner of our 2023 high school solo contest, will perform the first movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D Major.
