Author Sherryl Brown will present on the brilliant and prolific sculptor, Johann Eyfells. Johann Eyfells was an Avant Gard modern sculptor and former professor of fine art at the University of Central Florida for 30 years. The son of an Icelandic landscape painter, born June 21, 1923 in Reykjavik, Iceland, he studied architecture at the University of California (Berkeley) and the University of Florida in Gainsville. He became a licensed architect and later an internationally acclaimed sculptor of the post-modern school. He lived most of his adult life in the United States, establishing his reputation mostly in Florida and Texas. He produced over seventy pieces, many of them weighing over 2,000 pounds. His work has been exhibited in major museums and galleries in the United States, Scandinavia, Iceland, and Germany. His sculpture was selected for the Millennium 2000 United Nations exhibit of artists from all over the world in New York City, and he showed his interactive sculpture pieces at the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany. With over 200 exhibitions and shows, Mr. Eyfells established his reputation as one of the most prolific sculptors of the late 20th and early 21st Centuries.

Parking Info

There is convenient, free parking in our lot. If the lot is full, additional parking is located behind Stacy's Tavern Museum. If school is closed, you may also park by the elementary school, or across the street at the District 41 Administration Building. There is also parking on nearby residential streets, but watch for directional signs as not all side streets allow parking on both sides.
