The The Wheaton Center for Early Christian Studies at Wheaton College invites you to attend “The Forgotten Faces of the Church: Women in Ministry and Leadership,” a two-day conference by the Visual Museum Project
This two-day conference begins on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 12:00 PM.
The Visual Museum Project explores the visual record of women’s participation in the Early Church and the Byzantine and medieval Christianity. Scholars in history, arts, and gender studies are gathering at this inaugural symposium to articulate new ways of thinking about women’s contributions to and challenges within the early church. The symposium will contribute content and methodological best practices for the free access Visual Museum database of images and teaching elements, thereby enabling non-specialists to learn about women’s contribution to the life and faith of the church.
Presentations by Sandra Glahn, George Kalantzis, Lynn Cohick, Amy Peeler, Amy Hughes, Matthew Milliner, and Ally Kateusz. Visual Museum database built by Josephine Stringer, Shala Graham, and Sue Diaz.
This event is free and open to the public and will take place in Marion E. Wade Center, Room 130 Bakke Auditorium, located at 351 East Lincoln Avenue in Wheaton on the Northwest corner of campus at the intersection of Washington Street and Lincoln Avenue. Enter at the east doors marked "Bakke Auditorium."
