When English Chamber Orchestra was forced to cancel their US tour, the distinguished New York Classical Players agreed to fill in. There was excitement about the orchestra from across the pond, but NYCP is certain to exceed their rigorous standards.
The Wheaton College Artist Series presents the New York Classical Players, Dongmin Kim, Conductor, in the Concert Hall of the Armerding Center for Music and the Arts. Tony Payne, General Manager of the Wheaton College Artist Series has announced that the much-anticipated debut by the English Chamber Orchestra at Wheaton has been squelched by lost visa applications at the U.S. Consulate in London. That’s the bad news. The good news is that the acclaimed New York Classical Players with Dongmin Kim, Music Director, an orchestra of the same size and sophistication has stepped in to fill the gaping hole left the English Chamber Orchestra’s tour cancellation. Time Out New York describes NYCP as an, “Exuberant chamber orchestra!” On Amazon, Ken Meltzer wrote of the recording Music for Chamber Orchestra, “The performances by the New York Classical Players and conductor Dongmin Kim are excellent throughout. The playing is incisive, tonally rich, and phrased with great care.”
