Experience the Victorian Cottage in a whole new way. Steampunk: Gears, Gadgets, & Garments: An Alternative History of the Victorian Cottage features examples of Steampunk, including fashion, an optical semaphore, a vintage adding machine, and more.

Rae Slowik, education and collections manager and curator of the exhibit, describes Steampunk as “a science fiction subgenre which blends Victorian Era romanticism and fashion with steam powered technology. It is an alternative history that simultaneously accelerated human history forward with the invention of computers nearly 100 years sooner, but holds tightly to the design and aesthetics of the 19th century.”
