Before we conduct an open rehearsal for our symphony, SOCA is putting on a lecture series for high school music students curious about the college process and more!
The 2022 Lecture Series for the Summer Orchestra of the Chicagoland Area is designed to give high school music students more knowledge about music, college, and more! The lectures are entirely written and presented by young college music students, and cover topics such as "Navigating the College Application and Audition Process," "Busting Musical Myths-- Investigating Common Falsehoods in Music and Uncovering Their Biases," "Is Classical Music Dying?" and more!
This evening will cover "Navigating the College Application and Audition Process," presented by Timothy Holman and Preethi Navalpakkam, and "Busting Musical Myths -- Investigating Common Falsehoods in Music and Uncovering Their Biases," presented by Marina Akamatsu and Will Davenport. This event will be both livestreamed and in-person.
Please RSVP for the event here. Note: RSVPing is not necessary for attendance, but helps our logistical team plan for the event. This entire lecture series is FREE.
