There’s no place like the lawns at Cantigny Park! Join us this May for an outdoor radio play at the Bandshell in Cantigny Park.
In 1925 Col. McCormick invested in the new world of radio and founded WGN. In 1940, after the passing of his first wife, Amy, he founded Chicago’s Theatre of the Air, “radio’s greatest hour of music and drama.”
Join us as we travel back in time to a recreation of Chicago’s Theatre of the Air with our unique adaptation of Frank L. Baum’s classic, The Wizard of Oz. This one-hour adaptation will follow “Dotty”, a plucky Chicago journalist, after a freak tornado blows Aunt Em’s Boarding House for Girls to the wonderful land of Oz. The characters, while familiar, have a new 1920s twist that will have you laughing and smiling the whole way down the yellow brick road.
Parking: $10 per car
Free performance – seating in open on the lawn, please bring your own seating and blankets.
