The Wheaton College Concert Choir sings with passion
The Wheaton College Concert Choir has frequently been honored with invitations to perform on concert series and at regional and national conventions, to lead worship in churches, and to perform with professional ensembles. They also perform in more unconventional situations, ranging from soup kitchens and furniture stores to public lectures and prisons. Taken together, these varied experiences enrich students’ understanding of the vocation of the musician in the world. Recently, the Choir has also enjoyed exploring interdisciplinary collaborations and engaging in musical improvisation with audiences.
The Choir’s ambitious performance schedule is motivated by a belief in the transformative power of music. The ensemble strives to present audiences with musical offerings characterized by a deep and evident understanding of music and text, a high level of technical proficiency, and courage and immediacy in performance, all so that the power and depth of musical works may be experienced afresh by those who listen. Believing that music is a gift from a loving God, the Choir values sacred repertoire in particular for the opportunity it provides to highlight, deepen and enrich the spiritual experiences and understanding of performers and audience members alike.
Tickets are available only at the door. Cost is $10 for general admission, $5 for seniors over 60, and free to all students and Wheaton College ID holders. For more information, call the Conservatory of Music at 630.752.5099.
