The Museum’s magnificent Imperial Screen is covered both front and back with a myriad auspicious symbols depicting birds, plants, and objects. Because the Chinese language has so many words that share the same pronunciation these auspicious symbols can be combined into visual word plays, or rebuses. Join Dr. Richard Pegg to decipher the back of the Screen and unlock the visual puzzles.
