A Virtual Salute to Jonathan Miller

A Virtual Salute to Jonathan Miller

Presented by Chicago a cappella at Online/Virtual Space

Join Chicago a cappella for a heartwarming online event featuring tributes to the group’s founding Artistic Director Jonathan Miller, who stepped down in 2020 after 27 successful seasons. The event takes place on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 7 p.m., and it will feature personal testimonials and video performances from Chicago a cappella’s past concerts.  Tickets are $15.

This 75-minute event will be hosted by current and former members of the ensemble—Kathryn Kamp, Matt Greenberg, Susan Schober, and Elizabeth Grizzell—plus artistic director John William Trotter, former music director Patrick Sinozich, and longtime board member William Flowers. Audiences will see video performances from concerts that Miller created and led, such as Shakespeare a cappella, The Birds and the Bees, Love Stories, and A Cappella en Español—which features Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater. A cabaret performance by Miller himself will also be part of the program, and he will join the event live to greet his well-wishers.

“We are looking forward to a live, in-person Gala event celebrating Jonathan’s accomplishments in Fall 2021,” says Matt Greenberg, Chicago a cappella’s executive director. “But in the meantime, we’re excited to gather virtually and share personal stories and great music from his incredibly successful tenure leading our ensemble.”
