Soda-Fired Surfaces: A Group Show

Soda-Fired Surfaces: A Group Show

Presented by ClaySpace Ceramic Arts Center and Gallery at ClaySpace Ceramic Arts Center and Gallery

ClaySpace Ceramic Arts Center in Lisle is excited to announce the gallery show Soda-Fired Surfaces: A Group Show featuring functional and sculptural work created by our Resident Artists. Soda firing is a special process where sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate are introduced into the kiln at peak temperatures. The soda vaporizes and interacts with the clay surfaces to reveal unmatched variety and unpredictable surfaces. It’s a beautiful experiment in chemistry and physics!

A virtual gallery opening will be available to view on our Facebook page Friday March 5th at noon. Beginning Monday March 1 and going through March 31, our studio gallery will be open: Tuesday and Thursday 1-6pm, Wednesday 10am-3:30pm, Friday and Saturday 10am-2pm. Whether you’re shopping for gifts or looking to treat yourself, you’ll find what you’re looking for. Shop local and support ClaySpace artists!

ClaySpace was founded in 2006 as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit with the mission to develop, sustain and promote a nonprofit art-centered community that provides outstanding educational, artistic and collaborative programs in the ceramic arts to its Resident Artists and to the general public.
