Illinois Prairie Weavers Presents Antique and Vintage Textiles

Illinois Prairie Weavers Presents Antique and Vintage Textiles

Presented by Illinois Prairie Weavers Guild at Online/Virtual Space

Illinois Prairie Weavers welcomes Joan Sheridan as our guest lecturer. Joan has a deep reverence for textiles of all kinds, from all periods. In her role as textile conservator for the Henry Ford Museum, she tells us “Holding history in my hand as I make repairs is such an honor!” She teaches widely, designs knitting and weaving patterns, and established Heritage Spinning and Weaving (school and shop) in Lake Orion, MI. Joan will bring us vintage textiles from her extensive personal collection, and will show us why they are her favorites. We will look into the past as we “imagine the life these pieces lived, and what they could say if they could speak.”

The Guild welcomes visitors! For registration information, visit our website, www.illinoisprairieweavers.org/programs. Guild members will receive meeting access specifics privately. Note that meetings are subject to change. Visit our website and see us on Facebook and Instagram.

The Illinois Prairie Weavers Guild was organized in 1949 to promote and advance hand weaving. We come together to teach, encourage and inspire one another by sharing our knowledge and resources, and providing the opportunity to learn from experienced weavers. Members come from the western suburbs and Chicago.  The guild is open to anyone interested in weaving.
