The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later

The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later

Presented by McAninch Arts Center at Online/Virtual Space

In 1998, Matthew Shepard, a gay college student at the Univ. of Wyoming in Laramie, was tied to a fence, brutally beaten and left for dead. By the following day, Matthew’s attack and the town of Laramie had become a focus internationally; six days later, he died, and five weeks later members of Tectonic Theater Project went to Laramie and conducted interviews with people from the town, resulting a The Laramie Project, a script which has had national and international acclaim. In 2008, the Tectonic team returned to Laramie to do further interviews, resulting in this epilogue, which illuminates long-term effects on the town, how people have progressed, or not, and how new narratives may discard factual evidence. Mature audiences.
