Jazz on a Summer's Day: An After Hours Film Society Virtual Experience

Presented by After Hours Film Society at Online/Virtual Space

While the Tivoli Theatre remains closed, we are working behind the scenes to create a safe alternative for our patrons. Our solution? Virtual Cinema! After Hours Film Society announces its partnership with Kino Marquee to present programs you can view from the comfort of your home!

Watch Jazz on a Summer's Day Now!

Filmed at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival and directed by world-renowned photographer Bert Stern, Jazz on a Summer's Day features intimate performances by an all-star line-up of musical legends including Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, Gerry Mulligan, Anita O'Day, Chuck Berry, Dinah Washington, and closes with a beautiful rendition of The Lord's Prayer by Mahalia Jackson at midnight to usher in Sunday morning. The film has been beautifully and extensively restored in 4K from the best surviving vault elements by IndieCollect.

We thank Kino Marquee for making this screening possible:

Kino Marquee is a new initiative that creates "virtual cinemas" for temporarily closed independent theaters. It lets audiences see at home newly released films that these theaters would otherwise be playing on the big screen, and which are not yet available on other digital platforms.

Join us in supporting your community's theater in these uncertain times by buying a virtual “ticket” to watch award-winning international films, acclaimed documentaries, and restored classics on Kino Marquee. You’ll be directly supporting your local art house as all revenue is being shared between distributor and exhibitor just as if you bought your ticket at the theater's box office.
