New Philharmonic's Streamed Concerts: The Music of John Williams

With a cinematic career spanning more than six decades and honors including 24 Grammy Awards, five Academy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards, Williams is regarded as one of the greatest American composers of his time. This thrilling concert will include selections of his music from popular films ranging from “ET: The Extra-Terrestrial;” “Close Encounters of the Third Kind;” “Jaws;” plus the Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Superman and Star Wars series. New Philharmonic: “Holiday Sing-Along with the Symphony”

Streaming 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12; 3 and 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13

Tickets (per household) $40

For the first time, New Philharmonic offers a Christmas concert filled with everyone’s holiday favorites including a Hanukkah medley. To make sure no one skips a beat, ticket purchasers will be emailed a song sheet of lyrics.

 

New Philharmonic: New Year’s Eve Concerts

Streaming 2, 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31

Featuring Alisa Jordheim (soprano)

Tickets (per household) $50

Soloist Jordheim, who won hearts in New Philharmonics production of “The Merry Widow” this past January, joins Muspratt and New Philharmonic to say a hearty goodbye to the old year and look to the new in a program featuring Strauss waltzes and polkas, arias, light classical works, pop tunes, movie music and secret surprises. Sponsored by Sullivan Taylor, Gumina & Palmer, PC.

Please note: the concerts will be taped on the outdoor Lakeside Pavilion stage and the orchestra will be socially distanced when performing. Every precaution is being taken for the safety of the musicians and staff. This includes having temperatures taken on arrival, wearing masks (though masks will be removed when playing) and strategic placement of plexiglass shields.

Tickets are on sale online at AtTheMAC.org. A special three-show $99-per-household subscription package is also currently available. The package includes “The Music of John Williams,” New Year’s Eve Concert and “Holiday Sing-Along with the Symphony” streamed concerts, plus a free subscription to West Suburban Living magazine.
