Please join the Naperville Chorus as we proudly present the regional debut of Martin Palmeri’s Misa a Buenos Aires (Tango Mass) and Vivialdi’s Magnificat.
The Misa a Buenos Aires was written by by Martin Palmeri in 1995-1996 in the Nuevo Tango musical style. It is an Ordinary Mass in Latin, so one can say, it is doubly Latin; the language is Latin and the musical style is Latin American. It has been presented in Rome to honor the Argentine Pontiff, Pope Francis. The accompaniment makes use of a string orchestra and a bandoneon, an Argentinian instrument similar to the accordian. We are certain that you will enjoy this version of the Mass with the uniquely Latin rhythms of the Tango.
Accompanying this work will be the rarely heard Magnicat by Antonio Vivaldi. While our concert date falls after the Feast of the Annunciation (Mar 25), it comes closer to the appropriate time frame than the usual pre-Christmas performances of Magnificat.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $10 students. Tickets may be purchased from chorus members, or by phone – 630-637-SHOW(7469) – or in person from the North Central College Box Offce located in the Fine Arts Center and Wentz Concert Hall (open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm).
