St. John's Artist Series: Judson University Choir

St. John's Artist Series: Judson University Choir

Presented by St. John's Lutheran Church at St. John's Lutheran Church

The choir performs a wide variety of music, from choral masterworks to black gospel anthems to contemporary praise and worship.

About St. John's Artist Series: The series began as a way to introduce our congregation to the community through the arts, and as a way to facilitate our mission: to equip our members to extend Christ to the world.

“Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the springs and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” — Psalm 150:3-6
Who knew, when we began our Artist Series in 2007, that we would still be welcoming artists and audiences to our church campus ten years later? With the start of a new season, we continue to offer programs of high quality with a varied view of what “art” consists of. Music, dance, drama, visual arts such as painting and sculpture – all have found their way into our programming in one season or another. We continue to seek talented artists who will maintain what has become a congregational and community tradition. Of interest, too, is the fact that we have been able to accomplish all this without cost of any kind to the congregation.

All events begin promptly at 3:00 p.m. Concerts take place in the church Sanctuary unless otherwise noted. No tickets are sold, but a freewill offering is gathered. We also showcase the work of local visual artists during the reception following each performance. In most cases, their work is available for purchase.
