Chris Miles proudly returns to WPA to direct this favorite Neil Simon gem.
Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs is a semi-autobiographical comedic drama that recounts the love and laughter, strain and struggle of a Jewish family living in Brooklyn in 1937. The story is told through the eyes of 15 year old, Eugene Morris Jerome. Eugene shares his most private thoughts with the audience though his “fourth wall” breaking “memoirs” which provide an uncensored comedic view of girls, puberty, relationships, foul language, and responsibility. You’ll feel like a member of their extended family as they draw you into their lives while dealing with financial stress, illness, lost jobs, hurt feelings and the rise of WWII. You’ll quickly learn how a family that fights together and laughs together will always stay together.
