Acappellago presents our upcoming March performances! “Escape to… Springtime, The Only Pretty Ringtime” will feature songs of Shakespeare’s plays, which often glorified “the only pretty ring-time” and the welcome change of the season.
In a wide-ranging program, Shakespearean madrigals will mingle with the Beatles “Here Comes the Sun” and “Good Day Sunshine.” There are compositions by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Debussy, Sting, plus a bit of farce from the inimitable PDQ Bach and others (old Will would approve). It will fill your Heart with Spring!
Acappellago, now in its 18th season, is the western suburbs’ leading volunteer a cappella chorus, and is known for its eclectic programming that spans classical music, jazz, pop, and gospel under the direction of our new Music Director, Victoria Linich. Vicki is familiar to our many in our audience as an alto with the ensemble since 2007, a frequent soloist at our concerts, and the composer or arranger of many of our favorite numbers. She has extensive experience as a professional soloist and choral singer, as well as Music Director at Congregational Church of Batavia.
The first performance will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 7:30 pm in the cozy historic Event Hall at Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 W. 31st Street, Oak Brook. The second will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, March 15, 2020 amid the stunning acoustics of the Congregational Church of Batavia, 21 S. Batavia Avenue, across from the Batavia Public Library.
