"1619: The Journey of a People"

Presented by The Office of Intercultural Engagement at Wheaton College at Wheaton College

The Office of Intercultural Engagement at Wheaton College presents "1619: The Journey of a People" a musical production by Ted Williams III and the 3rd Dimension Performance Group (3D).

August 20, 2019, represents the 400th anniversary of the first enslaved Africans arriving on the shores of this nation. This multi-disciplinary theater experience will leave audiences both inspired and challenged about the progress of America's African sons and daughters. "1619: The Journey of a People," created and produced by Ted Williams III, features a dynamic cast of singers, actors, spoken word artists, and dancers who reflect on the past while tackling critical contemporary social issues.

With an appeal for all ages, this production reminds us that on the other side of the trial lies greatness. This production will close the Inaugural Rodney K. Sisco Symposium as part of the College's Black History Month celebration.

The 3rd Dimension Performance Group (3D) was established in 1999 to create and present quality entertainment that is thought-provoking, artistically dynamic, and spirituality relevant. In the years since its inception, 3D has toured extensively throughout the Midwest. 3D has provided performers to enhance events such as fashion shows, private parties, theatre showcases, CD release concerts, and charity drives, to name a few.
