Take part in one of the great traditions in birding, the annual Christmas Bird Count!
The CBC is a nationwide event, sponsored by the National Audubon Society and first conducted in 1900. It’s a true “citizen science” project and the data we collect will help researchers monitor bird population and distribution trends.
Cantigny Park will be one of many local count sites administered this day by the DuPage Birding Club. The CBC is an all-day event, but you can participate for as long as you like. The morning hours will focus on the park side of Cantigny, and after lunch we will bird on the golf course.
Those interested are welcome to attend the CBC Countdown Dinner where we recap the day and announce what species (and how many) were found by all the groups at all the local sites within the CBC circle. There are always a few surprises!

Unlike most bird walks at Cantigny, the CBC requires advance registration, limit 20 birders. Please contact Jeff Reiter if you wish to participate. Please put “Cantigny CBC” on the Subject line.
If the Cantigny group fills up, there will be opportunities for all birders at other sites around the county. All skill levels are welcome.

Cantigny's regular daily parking fee is $5 per car. Parking is free on the first Wednesday of every month. On Saturdays and Sundays, May through September, parking is $10. The $10 rate also applies on Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day. Parking is free at all times for Cantigny Park members, Honor Club members, and those attending ticketed events or other fee-based programs.
