Presenting an eclectic winter journey featuring songs that celebrate the season: snow, ice, toboggans, holiday decorations, shopping, and of course Christmas!
In our winter journey, we continue to present our eclectic range of music, from Debussy to Irving Berlin to Fleet Foxes and Gordon Lightfoot. You’ll hear familiar pieces from composers and arrangers such as Vince Gauraldi, Meredeth Willson, Irving Berlin, Abbie Burt Betinis, and our good friend and supporter, Robert Convery. It is guaranteed to start your season right!
Acappellago, now in its 18th season, is the western suburbs’ leading volunteer a cappella chorus, and is known for its eclectic programming that spans classical music, jazz, pop, and gospel under the direction of our new Music Director, Victoria Linich. Ms. Linich succeeds Founding Director (and now Director Emeritus) Dennis Smith, who founded the group in 2002. Vicki is already familiar to our many in our audience as an alto with the ensemble since 2007, a frequent soloist at our concerts, and the composer or arranger of many of our favorite numbers. She has extensive experience as a professional soloist and choral singer, as well as Music Director at Congregational Church of Batavia.
As a special part of this journey, we will be presenting the winner of our first ever composition contest for area college students. Michael Barrea, currently studying music performance and composition at Elmhurst College, will be honored. His composition, Star of the East, will have its World Premiere at the Oak Brook performance (Saturday) and again in Batavia (Sunday).
