Illinois Prairie Weavers Presents SHENEQUA on Weaving, Sisterhood, Intimacy

Presented by Illinois Prairie Weavers Guild at Congregation Etz Chaim

Illinois Prairie Weavers is delighted to present SHENEQUA Brooks at our October meeting at Congregation Etz Chaim.  SHENEQUA is a Caribbean textile interdisciplinary artist who received her Masters of Design in Fashion, Body, & Garment at School of the Art Institute of Chicago, mentored by Nick Cave and Liat Stemad.

Born from her experiences in weaving, her art “takes on a life of its own through sculpture, textile, performance, or ‘garment’ pieces and installations” and “celebrates the ideas of sisterhood, womanhood, sacred space, intimacy, identity and beauty.” We are excited to have her as a guest lecturer.
