The first film to be nominated for Academy Awards for both Best Picture and Best Foreign Language Film, “Z” is a political thriller involving the assassination of a democratic Greek politician and the ensuing investigation. The film captures the outrage of the military dictatorship that ruled Greece in the late ‘60s as well as mirroring political unrest occurring around the world.

Awards: Winner Best Foreign Language Film and Film Editing Academy awards with three other nominations, Winner Golden Globe Best Foreign Film, Winner Best Actor and Jury Prize Cannes Film Festival

Acclaimed international films are presented in their original language with English subtitles for FREE! Films are shown in either the Playhouse Theater or Belushi Hall at the McAninch Arts Center on Wednesdays at 1:30 and 7:30p in February and March.
