An exhibit of Snow City Arts student artwork in partnership with People Made Visible.
Snow City Arts inspires and educates children and youth in hospitals through the arts.
For a child, being in the hospital can be an overwhelming, frightening, lonely, or even boring experience. Snow City Arts works one-on-one with children who want to create and learn about art. In a place where children have little control, Snow City Arts’ award-winning programming lets them choose to paint, draw, make music or a film, write poetry, or a play. Students pick the topic, and our professional teaching artists help them create art and learn technique, theory, and history. Snow City Arts turns a hospital room into a working artist’s studio.
Over the past 18 years, Snow City Arts has worked with more than 18,000 students, employing professional artists who maintain the highest quality arts learning experience, empowering children in an environment where they have few, if any, choices available. All teaching is provided free of charge to students, and is the only program of its kind operating in the city of Chicago or DuPage County hospitals.
This exhibit is in partnership with People Made Visible. People Made Visible, Inc. (PMV) is a non-for-profit organization with a mission to facilitate community while fulfilling the artistic, social, educational and cultural needs of the community through an innovative physical and web based presence.
