New Philharmonic: Ode to Joy Beethoven's 9th Symphony

New Philharmonic: Ode to Joy Beethoven's 9th Symphony

Presented by McAninch Arts Center at McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage

Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, featuring the popular final movement “Ode to Joy,” is commonly regarded as Beethoven’s greatest work. Composed when he was completely deaf, Beethoven was the first orchestral composer to use the human voice in a symphony. The orchestra is joined by four vocalists and the 100-voice Northwest Indiana Symphony Chorus for the conclusion of this masterpiece. Beethoven’s expressive, Egmont Overture, opens the New Philharmonic season as we share our joy of music with you.

Katherine Weber: Soprano
James Judd: Tenor
Kate Tombaugh: Mezzo-Soprano
Sam Handley: Baritone
