Girls Make History Camp-Entering Grades 6-9

Find out what it really means to act like a girl! Meet famous women from the past and join them in an adventure to shape America. Join the ladies of the Revolutionary War, become a scientist for a day, and see if you have what it takes to make it through basic training. This camp will investigate the often overlooked, but always important contributions girls have made in American history!

Monday
Start off Girl’s History week right with fun interactive games and activities as we begin learning about various woman in history.

Tuesday
Learn what girls your age were doing at home to help the war effort. From becoming a “Rosie” to pickling your own produce, girls will experience the WWII home front at Girl’s History Camp!

Wednesday
Join us as we learn about the women of the 18th century. We will look at how women helped during the Revolutionary War. Then we’ll discover chores like sewing and butter making. It wasn’t all work though- we’ll learn an 18th century dance and check out make-up and fashion as well.

Thursday
Join us as we become female scientists for a day. After learning about some of the contributions women have made in science throughout history we will do our own investigating at Cantigny. Come ready to explore wildlife with hands-on experiments and discovery.

Friday
Fall In Line! Ladies will go through an obstacle course boot camp and learn what it took for a woman to make it in the military during WWII. After a demonstration of WWII field nursing, girls will practice their bandaging skills and make dog tags to take home.
