Glen Ellyn Civic Center Jail Lives On: Exhibit Grand Opening!

Glen Ellyn Civic Center Jail Lives On: Exhibit Grand Opening!

Presented by Glen Ellyn Historical Society at Glen Ellyn Historical Society

The jail, originally located in the Civic Center, was closed after decades of use when the new Glen Ellyn Police Department building was opened in 2017. Parts of the original jail have been reconstructed in Stacy’s Corners Store, including cell doors, bunk, toilet, and wooden bench in the holding area.

A ribbon cutting by the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce will commence at 11 a.m., and at 2 p.m. a speaker from the Police Department will be talking about the organization. There will be a DARE car and two other police vehicles on site, thanks to the Police Department. This is a great family event as there will be numerous activities for the kids. And don’t forget to bring your camera as there are great photo opportunities abound in the old jail cell!
