Maya Kilburn and pianist Jeffrey Panko will brighten a wintry afternoon with glorious music to warm the heart.
Bethel United Church of Christ in Elmhurst presents 16 year-old Muncie, Indiana native and violin virtuoso Maya Kilburn as she performs works by Bach, a Debussy Sonata, a Tchaikovsky Concerto and the virtuoso showpiece Carmen Fantasie by Franz Waxman. Music@Bethel concerts have delighted audiences from Elmhurst and surrounding communities for 20 outstanding seasons. Jeffrey Panko, artistic director of the concert series will accompany Kilburn on the piano.
Kilburn has played the violin since age four, and “brings a skilled presence to the stage and performs with a mature sound well beyond her years,” says Kimberly Diamond of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra.
Kilburn currently studies with Mimi Zweig at the Indiana University Jacobs School String Academy. She is a recent winner of the 2019 Muncie Symphony Young Artist Competition, where she performed the 3rd movement of the Tchaikovsky violin concerto. This was her 4th win this season, which also includes the Carmel Symphony’s Young Artists Competition, New World Youth Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Young Artist Solo Concerto Competition.
A wine reception will follow the concert.
