New exhibit on the making of the classic holiday film opens November 16-January 6 at Elmhurst History Museum
With memorable characters like George Bailey, Clarence the guardian angel, Zuzu, and even the notorious Mr. Potter, “It’s a Wonderful Life” stands the test of time as one of America’s favorite holiday movies. Experience the nostalgia and sentiment of Frank Capra’s 1946 film though a private collection from Richard Goodson of rare memorabilia including rare photographs, letters, lobby cards, and more. Find out about the making of the movie, the characters and actors, and the challenges the moviemakers faced to bring Bedford Falls to life on screen. Additional objects from Elmhurst History Museum’s collection will be on display, including handmade ornaments from Dresden, Germany and original prints by former Elmhurst resident Lee Sturges, a well-known American artist and etcher.
