Mark your calendar for a special One Time Only farewell performance by our founding maestro Dennis Smith, who will lead Acappellago (current members and alumni) in a selection of favorite pieces from our 17 seasons – along with a few surprises!
The journey will be a far-ranging musical travelogue, including dreams of California, sea shanties in Swansea Town, walking the banks of Loch Lomond, far away Africa, an “Old” River, and the West Side of New York. It will include folk songs “Shenandoah” and “It Is Well,” songs from Jerome Kern musicals, along with selections from The Beatles, Ralph Vaughn Williams, Gustav Holst, and Edward Elgar. We will also perform a favorite of ours from Australian composter and friend Matthew Orlovich, “Tides of Ocean”, and a piece new to us from another friend of Acappellago, Dale Trumbore, entitled “You Find Yourself Here.”
As part of the festivities, we will be welcoming our new Music Director, Vicki Linich, who will be guiding Acappellago forward in future musical adventures.
The performance will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 7:30 pm in the cozy historic Event Hall at Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 W. 31st Street, Oak Brook. There is no charge for admission to this event, but please consider a $15 donation to Acappellago at the door.
