Bikes, Gas Buggies and Burma Shave

Bikes, Gas Buggies and Burma Shave

Presented by Addison Historical Museum and Addison Public Library at Addison Public Library

Lindsey, dressed in duster, cap, gloves and goggles, will portray the founder of Oldsmobile, R.E. Olds.  He will discuss the early auto inventors: Benz, Olds, Winton, Ford, Dodge; auto racing at Evanston, Elgin and Cleveland with Barney Oldfield and Bad Luck Baker, and the first cross country trips by car with Alice Ramsey driving in 1909 and Bud the Bulldog crossing in 1903. (He didn't drive!)  He will also take a look at the Burma Shave signs which once dotted U.S. roadways.

This event is co-sponsored by Addison Historical Society and Addison Public Library.
