Music under the stars in a beautiful setting.
The Hinsdale-based West Suburban Symphony, under the baton of internationally acclaimed conductor Peter Lipari, performs an outdoor concert of rousing, popular American music, entitled “Heartland.”
“This concert under the stars will be an orchestral tour of our country, from Appalachia to the Wild West,” says Symphony president Rich Lukes, “All the music is familiar, and the audience will be singing along.”
The concert features John Williams' music from the 2012 movie Lincoln in honor of the Illinois Bicentennial, selections from Aaron Copland's 1942 Rodeo ballet about romance on a ranch in the Southwest, and medleys of well-known American songs. The Cantigny grounds open at 6 pm for pre-concert picnics.
Lipari, who has led orchestras, bands, choruses, and musical stage productions in the United States and abroad to rave reviews for more than 20 years, has served as the Society’s music director since 2001.
