In the exhibition "Mapping Earth," Nikkole Huss' encaustic paintings investigate if it is possible to encounter the essence of locations only experienced on a screen. As part of this mission, she digitally traveled to various National Natural Landmarks across the United States using Google Earth. These sites contain outstanding biological and geological resources that should be preserved as part of America's natural heritage for future generations. Huss' landscapes, while inspired by authentic locations, explore an imaginative interpretation of their natural beauty.
This exhibit is among many ongoing programs at North Central College to enrich and broaden the cultural and academic outlook for the College and community.
