“Good Morning America’s” Linsey Davis

“Good Morning America’s” Linsey Davis

Presented by Anderson's Bookshops at Anderson's Bookshop Naperville

Simple lessons of appreciation for the world around us are at the heart of new picture book by “Good Morning America” news correspondent, Linsey Davis. Davis turned her attention from asking the hard-hitting questions of newsmakers to raising the direct questions of little ones. Who opens the flowers? Who are the animal friends in my backyard or at the zoo?

Since Davis’ book was released this winter, it has been climbing the bestseller lists. This event is free and open to the public. To join the booksigning line, please purchase the author’s featured book at Anderson’s Bookshop. Davis will discuss her new book, participate in a Q & A and sign copies of her featured book for attendees.

The book also champions the importance of inclusive characters, one of her priorities. Davis has stated that children look for self-affirmation in their reading, and that including non-white characters in her new book was important to her as an author and a mother.

About the Book: This is the day the Lord has made.
A butterfly floats through the sun and the shade,
while dragonflies flit past the flowers and trees
and grasshoppers hop in the soft morning breeze.

The World Is Awake, A celebration of everyday blessings, written by Emmy Award winner and ABC News correspondent Linsey Davis with Joseph Bottum, is a lyrical, rhyming story for young children intended to make them feel safe and joyful, cradled in the hands of God. Paired with bright and engaging illustrations by Lucy Fleming, this book inspires children to be thankful for all of God’s blessings that surround us in our daily lives. From the nature in our own backyard to the animals at the zoo, The World is Awake is a celebration of God’s wonderful world.

About the Author: Davis is a correspondent for ABC News. She’s been filing reports for “World News,” “Good Morning America,” “20/20” and “Nightline” since 2007.

Davis has received several honors for her reporting, including two Emmy Awards and a regional Edward R. Murrow Award. In addition, the Center for Leadership Development awarded her with the distinction of “Up and Comer.”

She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Virginia and a Master of Arts degree in Communications from New York University. Davis is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
