Chicago Jazz Orchestra with Randy Brecker

Presented by McAninch Arts Center at McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage

The Chicago Jazz Orchestra will perform two sets of high flying, hard swinging, big band jazz, with legendary jazz trumpeter Randy Brecker performing as a featured special guest. Founded in 1978, the Chicago Jazz Orchestra is Chicago’s oldest professional jazz orchestra. The CJO is a 17-piece ensemble of Chicago’s finest jazz musicians led by Conductor and Artistic Director Jeff Lindberg. The Chicago Tribune calls the CJO “one of the best big bands in the country.”

Jazz trumpeter and composer Randy Brecker has helped shape the sound of jazz, R&B and rock for more than four decades. He became a jazz star during the 1970s alongside his saxophone-playing brother Michael in the legendary Brecker Brothers band. Randy Brecker’s trumpet and flugelhorn performances have graced hundreds of albums by a wide range of artists from jazz stars like Horace Silver, Jaco Pastorious and Larry Coryell to pop artists like James Taylor, Frank Sinatra and Steely Dan.
