Nadia Hironaka and Matthew Suib

Presented by McAninch Arts Center at McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage

Artist Reception: January 21, 1-3 PM

Opening Reception: January 27, 6-8PM

2015 recipients of the prestigious John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship for their work in video and mixed media installations, Matt Suib and Nadia Hironaka are an artist team based in Philadelphia, PA that employ a collage oriented approach to their video installations.  The duo's work has been known to consist of immersive moving image installations with both appropriated and filmed imagery and unique sound installations and soundtracks.  Their work plays with modes for understanding different media and through different power structures of society.  Often inverting narratives of convention and labor, their work collides imagery from various global histories, filmic history, the studio, the Internet, and imagined features.

This will be the most ambitious video installation work shown at the College of DuPage to date.  For the exhibition the wall and windows of the Cleve Carney gallery will be activated with projections transforming the space into a multimedia environment.
