Chamber Orchestra is a blended group composed of instrumentalists of student and community members, open to all from high school to adult. The ensemble performs both traditional literature for small orchestra/chamber music from the 1700s through through the early 20th century as well as less traditional chamber orchestra music such as jazz, contemporary classical, theater and film music. All instrumentalists interested in an eclectic mix of styles and time periods are encouraged to join. No audition necessary
About the Director: Alison Gaines is the conductor of the Chamber Orchestra at COD, is assistant conductor for Elmhurst Symphony and teaches history, theory and aural skills at Rock Valley College. Her master’s degree in Bass is from U.S.C. and she has experience as principal bassist for a full-time orchestra, is principal bassist with the Breckenridge, CO Music Festival in the summer and free-lances locally. She also holds a DMA in Conducting and has been music director and conductor of youth symphonies, public and private school orchestras, amateur and professional groups, the annual Breckenridge Brass Night concert and was interim conductor at Iowa State University.
