Call for Artists: Window Art Celebrating Arts & Humanities Month

 Wheaton, IL, 60187

In celebration of National Arts and Humanities Month the Downtown Wheaton Association, with the City of Wheaton Fine and Cultural Arts Commission, will be sponsoring Window Art by local artists for the month of October. The Theme for this event is Wheaton: Love Where You Live.

We are seeking artists interested in participating in this event.  Some of the tentative guidelines are:

  • All images must be non-political, non-religious, non-social activism and family-friendly
  • The paint must be TBD and artists are responsible for supplying the paint as part of the payment
  • Artists must use a drop cloth while painting and complete clean up their area after painting
  • Artists may not leave supplies behind if planning to paint over more than one day
  • All window art is considered temporary and will be cleaned off the windows at the end of the event.
  • Businesses are responsible for cleaning the windows before and after painting
  • Artists must start painting no sooner than 09/20/20 and finish no later than 09/30/20
  • High preference to artists painting in off-hours when there are fewer people

Payment

An invoice from the artist is required by the DWA in the amount of ($250) in order to receive payment.
Invoices will be paid after the completion of the artwork.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Tony Asta at tonyasta@ameritech.net at your earliest convenience. Since we have a limited number of store fronts, artists will be chosen on a first come, first serve basis.

You will be sent a final copy of the guidelines (for you to sign) and be invited to a zoom meeting on Sunday, September 20th at 1pm. There we will go over the details of the program and provide you with information on the site you are assigned.
