Water Street Studios invites artists to use their skills, passion and efforts to support important causes that are directly impacting our community while getting paid for their work. Interested artists can apply online at www.waterstreetstudios.org to make a difference in our community today by using the arts as a tool to further personal, professional, academic, and economic growth for those in our community in honor of Water Street Studios’ 10 Year Anniversary.

Artists will be selected by jury and then presented to non-profit partners for pairing. Selected artists receive a $1,000 stipend from Water Street Studios for their work. All artists living in Illinois can submit. Final works to be completed on 3 foot by 4 foot (vertical) canvas, according to non-profit specifications, illustrating the programs and services provided by the non-profit partner. A digital vinyl replica will be presented at the Reveal Party to be scheduled by non-profit partners and hosted by Water Street Studios over several months from late 2019-2020.

Artists have until July 15, 2019 to submit their application to participate in the Activate the Alley project in coordination with Water Street Studios’ 10 Year Anniversary. In honor of their 10 Year Anniversary on September 13, 2019 Water Street Studios is partnering 10 local artists with 10 nonprofits to create outdoor, public art murals that illustrate the programs and services that the participating nonprofits offer back to the community. These murals will be on display in the alley leading up to the entrance of Water Street Studios.

The goal of this project is to create an outdoor resource gallery for our community to learn more about leading causes and services in our community while improving the streetscape and public safety on Water Street in downtown Batavia, Illinois.

Water Street Studios Executive Director Danielle Hollis shares, “My vision in creating this project was to connect non-profits so that our missions can support one another. We don’t have to do it all on our own. We should be working together to make bigger impacts in our community. It’s all about understanding the strengths and weaknesses of our organization and going out to find partners that can strengthen our weaknesses and benefit from our strengths.”
