Artéculture, a multi-media pop-up art show sponsored by the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission, is scheduled for Saturday, May 19, 2018 in downtown West Chicago during the City’s annual Blooming Fest. This exciting display of creative installations provides a showcase for the talents of residents as well as Chicago-area artists, for the enjoyment of the thousands of people that attend the City’s signature spring event. This year, Artéculture will be held at Kindred Coffee, a new coffee shop at 148 W. Washington Street that is quickly becoming a favorite neighborhood gathering space. A preview night, at the same location, has also been scheduled for Friday, May 18, 2018, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Artwork being sought for Artéculture is two-dimensional, ready to hang (preferably framed with wire and eye hooks). Sculpture and crafts are also welcome. The registration fee is $5 per piece of art with a limit of two works per artist.  The money collected from the registration fees will go to support Commission sponsored art projects and programming throughout the year.

Submissions for this event are not juried and everyone is invited to show their work. “The really great thing about Artéculture is the diversity of art that will be included. Work from emerging artists to professional artists will be represented,” said Rosemary Mackey, City of West Chicago staff liaison for the Commission.

Those wishing to participate should drop artwork, a maximum of two pieces per artist, at Gallery 200, 103 West Washington Street on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. and pick up artwork following the event on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. If necessary, additional drop off and pick up arrangements may be made by contacting cultural@westchicago.org.

An online submission form to register in advance is available at westchicago.org/Residents/Forms and Applications/Artéculture. Registering in advance is highly recommended and will allow organizers to plan setup of the space and placement of the art for a smooth installation process. It will also assist the Commission in creating exhibit cards for each piece of art in advance of the show.
