Elmhurst University is a top-ranked, comprehensive university that seamlessly blends liberal learning and professional preparation to help students reach their full potential. Founded in 1871, Elmhurst attracts students from across the nation and around the world. In small classes, students work closely with faculty members who are accomplished scholars and professionals—but above all, they’re dedicated teachers.

An official name change was instituted on July 1, 2020 and from Elmhurst College became Elmhurst University. The change more accurately reflects Elmhurst’s current educational profile as a comprehensive higher education institution offering undergraduate and graduate programs in the liberal arts and applied sciences, while anticipating opportunities for new programs and partnerships.

The University offers more than 60 undergraduate majors, 17 graduate programs, degree-completion programs for adults, and the Elmhurst Learning and Success Academy for young adults with developmental disabilities. U.S. News & World Report names Elmhurst University as one of the Top 10 Colleges in the Midwest and it is consistently named as one of the Midwest’s best values in higher education.
