Melodies by Joseph Haydn, Francis Poulenc, Gustav Holst and Jean-Philippe Rameau
Gorgeous music by these four composers, shaped by the cultures of London and Paris, has delighted audiences for centuries. You'll understand why as our chamber orchestra presents Haydn's ingenious "London" Symphony 104, crafted in England, and Holst's rousing St. Paul's Suite, written for the British school that employed him. Two tuneful pieces by Parisians complete this memorable concert: Poulenc's upbeat Sinfonietta, commissioned by the BBC, and Rameau's graceful Ballet Suite.
