The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America

Elmhurst College presents this year’s Andrew K. Prinz Lecture for Political Awareness.

Racial segregation characterizes every metropolitan area in the U.S. It corrupts the criminal justice system and exacerbates economic inequality. In his book The Color of LawRichard Rothstein, a research associate at the Economic Policy Institute, argues that government systematically imposed residential segregation in cities across the country, with devastating consequences for generations of African Americans and the country as a whole.
