“The Children”, a play by Lucy Kirkwood, raises profound questions about whether having children sharpens, or diminishes, one’s sense of social responsibility.
Two retired nuclear scientists, living on the coast of England, see their lives upended when an old friend returns to town during a devastating disaster at the nuclear power plant where they all worked. Relationships and responsibilities are tested, as the question is asked, “What about the children?”
